About Me
Who am I?
Who is the devoted doula?
I’m Julia - mum of three, wife, doula, breastfeeding supporter and someone who has been fascinated by all things pregnancy, birth and babies for far longer than I probably need to admit.
I live in Farnborough, Hampshire, and I’m passionate about helping women and families feel informed, heard, supported and confident throughout pregnancy, birth and those first precious (and sometimes chaotic) weeks with a new baby.
I’ve always been fascinated by pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding - I mean, how incredible are women’s bodies?! Becoming a mum myself gave that fascination a whole new meaning.
After having my own positive pregnancy and birth experiences, I found myself wanting to share that sense of confidence and positivity with other women. But I also know that every pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience is different, and sometimes what you need most isn’t someone telling you how it should be - it’s someone beside you who listens, supports you and helps you find your own way.
So, how did I become a doula?
In the summer of 2023, something clicked. I knew I wanted to build a career around something that felt purposeful, meaningful and genuinely helpful to other people. I started researching, talking to birth workers and learning more about what doulas do, eventually training with Developing Doulas later that year. Since then, my journey has continued to grow. I’m now a recognised birth and postnatal doula, offering personalised support to families across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire.
Breastfeeding support has also been a huge part of my journey. I trained as an Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) Peer Supporter in 2022 and have volunteered with breastfeeding support groups for several years. I’ve continued to build on that knowledge through further breastfeeding education alongside my doula work.
And, of course, being a mum of three means I understand that parenthood isn’t always the picture-perfect experience we imagine it will be. There can be excitement, joy and complete wonder but also uncertainty, overwhelm, exhaustion and what the hell am I doing?! moments...
That’s where I come in.
I’m not here to tell you how to give birth, how to feed your baby or what your experience should look like. I’m here to listen without judgement, share information, help you understand your options and support you in making the choices that feel right for you. Because ultimately, this is your birth, your baby and your journey into parenthood. I’m just here to help you feel a little more confident walking through it.
